Pussers Lord Nelson Ships Decanter Rum 1L

, ,

Ships decanters had their beginnings in the early naval sailing ships of the Royal Navy, and it would have been an exception to have found a captain’s cabin without one. Pussers Lord Nelson Ships Decanter Rum 1L is bottled in a special hand cast porcelain ship decanter laden with the imagery and symbolism of the Royal Navy. This decanter is an eye-catching inclusion in any bar and a superb gift for the rum enthusiast.

This is a new unopened rare Pussers Lord Nelson Porcelain Ships Decanter with matching porcelain stopper. The plastic shrink wrap around the stopper is still intact as new.

This flagship rum is a blend of 5 molasses based rums from pot stills sourced from Trinidad, Guyana and the British West Indies. The base rum is produced at Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) from the world’s only wooden pot still in operation.

TASTING NOTES: A full-bodied rum that despite its strength has a mellow medley of flavours: molasses, treacle, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, toffee and espresso all given structure by a garnish of oak.

Pussers Lord Nelson Ships Decanter Rum 1L contains Pusser’s rum – the official British Navy Rum. For many years, sailors of Great Britain’s Royal Navy were issued a daily ration or ‘tot’ of rum by the ship’s ‘Purser’ (corrupted by the sailors to Pusser’s). A ritual that continued up until July 31st 1970; the end of a 325 year naval tradition was marked on British ships around the world with sailors wearing black armbands and conducting mock funerals, this was known as Black Tot day. Pusser’s Rum was resurrected in 1980 by ex-Navy Seal, Charles Tobias. After much convincing he was allowed to reproduce the rum to the exact specifications of the Admiralty blend established in 1810. Pusser’s is a blend of 5 molasses based rums from pot stills, these rums are sourced from Trinidad, Guyana and the British West Indies. The base rum is produced at Demerara Distillers from the world’s only wooden pot still in operation.
