Transcontinental Rum Line Fiji 2009

, ,

Transcontinental Rum Line Fiji 2009 was distilled on 1 September 2009 and aged first in the tropics until 1 June 2010 and then for more than 7 years in a continental climate. Produced from a small batch of four casks, it invites us on an olfactory and gustatory journey of incredible richness and complexity. Present from start to finish, milky and lemony notes act as its backbone, creating the vital transitions between each stage of the tasting.

Limited edition of 943 bottles per release. Gift presentation box included.

Tasting Notes: The lively initial nose is marked by notes of lemon and rice pudding. Medicinal and vanilla, it becomes increasingly exotic (pineapple) once allowed to breathe. Stunning mentholated freshness. The firm attack returns to the milky, lemony notes of the nose. The mid-palate wavers between cane sugar and bitter orange. The apricot finish is also spicy (star anise), resinous (pine) and almost smoky.

Transcontinental Rum Line Fiji 2009 is part of the the new TCRL brand from LMDW. Launched in 2016, this new brand of rum has seduced lovers of barrel crude and high-end rum.

The Transcontinental Rum Line or TCRL is inspired by historic voyages of rum casks between the New World and the Old Continent (Europe). From the beginning of its production, rum has always been shipped to Europe for nautical, economical and technical reasons.

  • Nautical, because it permitted to avoid stagnant water consumption during long transatlantic crossings.
  • Economical, since the angel share is lower and the rum matures more smoothly.
  • Technical, because the know-how of Cognac and Scotland’s cellar masters plus the diversity of barrels allowed to create unique expressions.

For the sake of transparency, each bottling of the series displays its proportion of aging in continental climate.
