Appleton Estate 21 Year Rum is a ‘minimum age’ rum as indicated by the number 21 displayed on the bottle. The rum is aged in Number One Select American Oak barrels.

BOUQUET: Powerful, yet with delicate citrus, spice, and woody notes. You’ll also discover mellow orange peel, deep vanilla, rich nutmeg, warm coffee, and cocoa notes.
FINISH: The finish is long and dry, with a brown sugar sweetness that does not claw at the palate.

Appleton Estate has the distinction of being the oldest sugar estate and distillery in Jamaica in continuous production, crafting this delicious rum with the warmth, passion and unique spirit of Jamaica for more than 265 years.

Appleton’s master distiller, Joy Spence, has been combining the Art and Science of Rum Making to craft premium Appleton Estate Jamaican Rum for 25 years. After graduating from the University of the West Indies with a Bachelor of Science Degree, First Class Honours, Joy spent some years teaching chemistry, before moving to England to pursue a Master of Science degree in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Loughborough, where she excelled and graduated with honours.

Joy joined Appleton Estate as Chief Chemist in 1981, gaining the title  of Master Blender in 1997. Joy is the first woman to hold the position of Master Blender in the spirits industry. In 2005, the Government of Jamaica awarded Joy the Order of Distinction in the Rank of Officer (OD) for her service to industry.
