Papalin 6 Year Haiti ex Sherry Casks Rum is part of the acclaimed Papalin single country blends released by Velier.
Papalin is a project dedicated to rum blends, made by Luca Gargano himself. After the success of the first edition launched by Velier in October 2013 (now a collectors’ item), the brand was revived with two releases: Papalin Jamaica 7 years old and Papalin Jamaica 7 years old Navy Proof, and now with a Haitian 4 Year release.
Haiti is the latest area of research and selection by Velier and this exquisite 4 year expression represents a new horizon of blending tropically aged pot still rums. They are ‘vatted rums’ (blend of different pot stills) entirely aged in the respective warehouses of the distilleries where they were produced: After the release dedicated to Jamaica, the spotlight shifts to Haiti, with a rum produced from a blend from 3 different pot still rums for a total of 7 ex-Sherry casks, all entirely aged in a tropical climate.
The reason Papalin is called a “tropical dependent bottler” is that Velier is the only company that created direct partnerships with distilleries when it comes to sourcing and ageing rums, and therefore depends on the distilleries until the product is bottled. This way, all the projects are planned hand in hand with partners in terms of sourcing and ageing, which always takes place in the official warehouses of the distilleries.
