Hampden 12 Years 2010 HGML Rare Cask 24
Hampden Estate, New Products, Pure Single Rum, Rum, Velier Rum
Hampden 12 Years 2010 HGML Rare Cask 24 is a rare single cask release, with just 260 bottles available world wide.
The Rare Cask Series is a set of five bottlings hailing from five casks distilled in 2010 and selected from some of the estate’s oldest stocks. They represent three different marks – HLCF (400-600 g/hla), HGML (1,000 – 1,100 g/hla) and the DOK (1,500 – 1,600 g/hla) which is Hampden’s highest ester expression that is right on the cusp of what is legally permitted. They have been matured for 12 years in Jamaica’s tropical climate to create some intensely raw, authentic and complex rums.
This fourth instalment (Cask #24) in the journey dedicated to Hampden single casks distilled in 2010 has an ester content of between 1,000 and 1,100 grams per hectolitre of alcohol, this twelve-year-old Hampden falls into the HGML category.
Particularly opulent, this version initially unveils empyreumatic, medicinal, heady and oxidative tones of rare power and great distinction. Then, once this telluric backdrop has been set, it reveals a delicate, nuanced personality marked by notes of fresh figs, orange, acacia honey and cocoa.
